Assam

Assam is a state in Northeast India that spans the fertile plains of the Brahmaputra valley. A melting pot of cultures, languages and religions, Assam is blessed with lush forest cover, a rich biodiversity and ancient archaelogical sites.

A visit to Assam offers visitors a wide range of experience: spot One-horned Rhinoceroses (indigenous to Assam) on safari in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kaziranga and Manas National Parks; cruise down one of Asia's mightiest rivers on your own private houseboat and stop at rural villages and temples on the banks of the Brahmaputra; or cycle around in Majuli - the world's largest river island - and interact with the dancing monks of the neo-Vaishnavite sect.

What's more is that Assam also happens to be the world's largest tea-growing region - experience firsthand how tea is produced at a plantation and enjoy a comfortable stay at a colonial tea bungalow.

Come to Assam to experience a unique offering of tribes and culture, vibrant festivals, age-old weaving traditions, scenic beauty and, of course, the best cup of tea in the world!
