ARUNACHAL PRADESH

Known as the Land of the Dawn-lit Mountains, Arunachal Pradesh is located in the mountainous region of Northeast India. Living in isolated splendour, this state shares international borders with Tibet, Myanmar and Bhutan.

Almost 80% of the state is covered by impenetrable forest and new species of both flora and fauna are regularly discovered. Namdapha National Park and Eagle's Nest Wildlife Sanctuary are two standout hotspots for wildlife and birding enthusiasts.

Arunachal Pradesh is home to 27 different tribes, each of which flaunt their own rich tribal culture, customs, belief, dress and language. Festivals are an integral part of tribal culture in this state, displaying the artistic acumen of the tribes and offering travellers a chance to partake in the song and dance extravaganza.

A large region of this state also has a strong Tibetan-Buddhist influence, with Tawang Monastery earning the distinction of being the world's second-largest monastery (after Potala Palace in Tibet).

Arunachal Pradesh is also an exciting destination for adventure-seekers, with plenty of opportunities for bicycling, rafting and motorcycling.
